What distinguishes Jewelry Line L236 Loricariid Catfish?

Loricariid catfish are peaceful by nature, therefore they are easy to socialize with other fish. Shrimps, snails, smaller peaceful fish (e.g. characins) and other catfish are well suited as roommates in the aquarium. A socialization with aggressive ornamental fish species, however, is not advisable. The keeping of ornamental line L236 Loricariid catfish is possible as a pair or as a group. For a single pair a tank size from 100 cm length is sufficient, for group keeping (e.g. 4-6 specimens) larger tanks should be used.

The appearance of jewelry line loricariid catfish L236

The fish have a distinctive well defined black and white pattern and black banded fins. L-catfish grow to a maximum length of about 12 cm.

Sex differences

It is difficult to make a reliable distinction. But the male has a broad head and a slim waist. Females have a narrower head and a much wider waist. In some animals the genital opening (genital papilla) is also clearly visible: Males have a slightly pointed genital papilla, females a tubular genital papilla.
